mina is the founder of Women in Global Health Somalia chapter. She currently works as a Project Director at Save the Children International, Somalia country office in Nairobi.
As a returning diaspora from Sweden, she has chosen to utilise her experiences, skills and education to contribute towards rebuilding the health and education systems in Somalia. She holds a PhD in Applied Health Technology from Blekinge Institute of Technology, an MPH and a B.Sc. in Nursing from Lund University, in Sweden. She has also studied Management, Communication for Development and Higher Education Pedagogy at post graduate level.
She has worked as a senior policy advisor for the federal ministry of health in Mogadishu, and independent consultant. Prior to moving to Somalia, she has worked in various research and leadership capacities to strengthen health and social policies, contribute to capacity- and opinion building geared towards creating enabling, inclusive and sustainable health, and wellbeing for refugee and other underserved communities in Europe.
Her research interests focuses on equity on advancing evidence-based approach to capacity building, policy making in universal and equitable health care services and gender inequality in health and education. She has published in peer-reviewed journals.
